Questions About Zero-Emission Transportation

The most frequently asked questions about zero-emission transportation and detailed answers

What is zero-emission transportation?

It refers to transportation modes that move without using fossil fuels or with very low emissions. Electric vehicles, bicycles, pedestrian paths, and rail systems fall within this scope.

Why should we prefer zero-emission transportation?

Because road transport accounts for approximately 16% of total greenhouse gas emissions in Turkey. Clean transportation improves air quality, reduces health problems, and is an effective step against the climate crisis.

Does zero-emission transportation only mean electric vehicles?

No. Public transportation systems, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, scooter sharing systems, and other alternatives are also zero-emission or low-emission transportation methods.

What is being done in cities?

Some cities are establishing low-emission zones, increasing bicycle lanes, and renewing public transportation fleets with electric vehicles. Many municipalities in Turkey are also making investments in this direction.

What is Turkey's target?

Turkey aims to achieve net zero emissions in the transportation sector by 2053. A roadmap has been prepared and the sectoral transformation process has been initiated within this scope.

What can I do as a citizen?

Walking short distances, using public transportation, cycling, converting your vehicle to electric, or informing those around you can make a significant contribution.
