Second Study Visit to the Netherlands Completed
The second study visit under the “Türkiye’s Net Zero Emission Target: Road Map for Transport” Project took place in the Netherlands from 10 to 14 May 2026, with the participation of a 14-member project delegation. Covering The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam, the programme focused on first-hand examination of sustainable transport policy, the decarbonisation of ports and logistics, rail infrastructure, urban mobility and sustainable aviation practices.
Technical meetings and site visits were held with Mobycon, Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Embassy of Türkiye in The Hague, the Port of Rotterdam and Portlantis, the Municipality of Utrecht, Royal Schiphol Group and the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR). Key topics included hydrogen and alternative fuels, shore-side electrification, smart infrastructure management, zero-emission rail transport, people-centred urban planning, sustainable aviation fuels and the electrification of airport operations.
The visit aimed to identify policy, governance and implementation lessons that could be adapted to Türkiye, strengthen institutional knowledge exchange and feed practical findings into the road map being developed in support of Türkiye’s 2053 Net Zero Emission target.
